Overview

The Design # View screen provides a complete historical audit trail for a stock item, from the date it was first entered into Retail Edge through to the current day.

This view allows you to track all movements, transactions, and adjustments associated with an item.

Accessing Design # View

The Design # View can be accessed from within a stock item record.

  1. Locate and open the stock item.
  2. Select Design # View.

Understanding Design # View Events

Stock and Inventory Events

  • Stock Added – Standard Invoice: Indicates stock was added through a supplier invoice entry.
  • Stock Added – Standard Stock Add: Indicates stock was added using the Add function rather than an invoice.
  • Book Entry: Displays as two entries — one removes the stock, the second adds it back. Occurs when a price update is applied.
  • Adjustment Entry Created: Indicates a manual stock adjustment was performed.
  • Stocktake: Indicates a stocktake adjustment has been applied to the item.

Sales and Customer Events

  • Sale: The item was sold on this date. Highlighting the line shows customer details on the right.
  • Layby: The item was placed on layby. Highlighting the line displays the associated customer.
  • Refund: The item was returned and refunded to the customer.

Supplier and Transfer Events

  • Return to Supplier: Indicates the item was returned to the supplier.
  • Inter-Store Transfer – Send / Receive: Displays when stock is transferred between stores. Multi-store environments only.

Filtering Design # View Results

The Design # View screen includes filter tick boxes to refine the information displayed. Use these filters to:

  • Narrow results to specific event types
  • Locate a particular transaction or adjustment

Best Practices

  • Use Design # View when investigating stock discrepancies.
  • Review book entries carefully when pricing changes occur.
  • Highlight sales or layby lines to quickly identify customer details.
  • Apply filters to simplify auditing in high-volume items.
