The Re-Cost and Re-Price Items process in The Edge POS system allows for efficient updating of item costs and retail prices in bulk. This process is crucial for adjusting prices due to changes in costs, such as material price fluctuations or seasonal markups/markdowns.
Key features of this process include:
Setting Criteria for Repricing: Define specific items for re-costing or re-pricing by using filters based on department, supplier, or other item characteristics.
Selecting Pricing Adjustments: Choose from multiple pricing methods, such as using multipliers or age-based markdowns, to automate price changes across selected items.
Applying Multipliers and Criteria: Use the multipliers tab to apply different adjustments based on item age or other factors, enabling flexibility in price changes.
Finalizing Changes: Review proposed changes carefully, as adjustments cannot be undone. Print a backup list for reference if needed.
Optional Ticket Printing: Once prices are updated, print updated price tickets as needed to reflect new pricing on the sales floor.
This process ensures that all stores have synchronized pricing data, maintaining consistency across locations and adapting to market conditions efficiently.
To re-cost items, follow these steps from the Administrative menu:
This will open a warning screen about Synchronising your stores.
This message box is reminding you to ensure that your stores are synchronising for the Re-Cost/Re-Price changes to take effect across all locations. To verify this, check the Edge Store Monitor to ensure that the stores are synchronised. If you're uncertain, please contact support for assistance.
Note: By default, the Current Price is set to be updated using the Retail x Age Markdown. Please ensure you make the correct selection in this section for the prices you wish to update. If you do not want to update the Current Price, select No Change in the Current Price section.

* Denotes the default options are automatically selected when opening the Reprice Items utility.
Note: If you are managing multiple price books, you can only change one price book per run of the utility. Make your selection at the top right of the screen, under the Item Filter.
Note: Only use the Multipliers tab if you have selected an option in the Criteria section that requires the multipliers to be filled in. Otherwise, proceed directly to Step 9.
Example: If you select a date 30 days ago in the Older Than field and input 1.2 under Factor, items older than 30 days will have their cost/price increased by 20%. Or as per your selection in the Criteria Tab
Hint: You can type numbers directly into the Older Than field. For example, entering -30 will automatically calculate the date for items older than 30 days.
WARNING: Review the changes carefully before finalising, as there is no undo option. It is recommended to use Print List for backup and future reference.
